The wealth of this land lies in its fertile soil of volcanic origin which, by interacting with the climate, is enriched with unique mineral components that make it ideal for growing olive trees. This richness, combined with the knowledge passed down over thousands of years on growing and processing olives, gives the olive-oil made here unmistakeable organoleptic characteristics, a rich taste and a special uniqueness legitimated by the accreditation of Tuscia Protected Designation of Origin – TUSCIA P.D.O. – by the European Union. Several studies have shown that the structure of the territory and its unique climatic and pedological characteristics make it one of the areas with the highest potential for the cultivation of olive trees.
Tuscia, the Etruscan and Vetralla
In ancient times, Tuscia was the name given to Etruria after the fall of the Etruscan people and the subsequent absorption of its lands and eminent civilisation by the Roman one, covering a vast geographical area between the Upper Lazio region and most of Umbria and Tuscany. A large number of historic vicissitudes have today led to identifying the geographical area in Upper Lazio that corresponds to the Province of Viterbo by this term, an area that is extremely rich in records that have reached our days: monumental necropolises, remains of cities and works of art. In the ancient world, the Etruscan Civilisation was one of the most evolved and mysterious ones, reaching extremely high social, civil, artistic, commercial and agricultural levels, to such an extent that their products were known and sought-after all through the Mediterranean basin. It was the Etruscans, moreover, who introduced and spread the olive-growing culture in Italy, with techniques that have been passed down to our times.
In the middle of the Mediterranean basin, the Viterbian Tuscia still today offers uncontaminated landscapes, with mountains outlined in century-old beech, oak and chestnut trees, the beautiful volcanic lakes of Bolsena and Vico, hills rich in century-old olive and nut trees, waterways, the Maremma plains, a large number of thermal springs and its medieval villages. A land with a landscape rich in history and culture, a land that can be harsh, welcoming and fascinating at the same time. Vetralla is located in the heart of this territory and its medieval village is situated on a tufa cliff bordering on the ancient Via Cassia. It belongs to the national association called “Città dell’Olio” which each year, at the beginning of December, organizes the “Festa dell’Olio” festivity.

For a brand that was so new, yet so deeply rooted in a precise historic and geographical framework in which the origins of our contemporary civilization can be traced, we could not but take our inspiration from elements that were entirely Etruscan

Even the logo speaks of this strong connection with the territory, being composed of letters reconstructed specially on the basis of the Etruscan legacy.
